The THREE STAR Hotel, Elephant Lake Inn is located in the town of St Lucia, Kwa Zulu Natal, surrounded by the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, South Africas first World Heritage Site. The Inn has 34 modern, en-suite, air-conditioned rooms. All rooms are equipped with flat screen TV and selected DSTV channels, tea/coffee making facilities, wall safes, hair dryer and full range of bathroom amenities. The Inn has two levels. The breakfast room, service bar and lounge is located on the ground floor and has 16 rooms, all with a private patio leading out to a sparkling pool and indigenous garden. The upper level present 18 rooms of similar standard to the ground floor with the exception of patios.
Traditional South African Braai Buffet dinners are available subject to prior arrangement and advance booking.
St Lucia serves as a tourist hub for the iSimangaliso Wetland Park and has evolved in a typical tourist town, providing all the neccesities without feeling commercial. The iSimangaliso Wetland Park includes the St Lucia estuary, a pristine wildlife reserve, beautiful beaches, snorkeling areas, and is home to five recognizable ecosystems that includes swamps, lake systems, coral reefs, beaches, wetlands, woodlands and coastal forests. The iSimangaliso Wetland Park supports the countrys largest population of hippos and crocodiles. It is also home to leatherback turtles, white & black rhino, leopards, over 530 species of birds, including greater and lesser flamingos.
The unique combination of subtropical coastline and African Game Park is what draws visitors as well as the sheer viewing pleasure. During November sea turtles come to the beaches to lay their eggs, whales frequent the waves from June through September, making their way southwards and the park is a very popular fishing destination, providing surf fishing, kite fishing, fly fishing, spear fishing and deep sea fishing.
