Mont Fleur maintains a full liquor licence for the convenience of its guests. Coffee & Tea facilities. Breakfast included in adult rates or as arranged for children. Parking. Magnificent views of the Touw River below and its tidal lagoon that ebbs and flows under the N2 and Garden Route railway line. Dolphins Point, a lookout rest-area overlooking the Indian Ocean that fronts Wilderness and its beaches, is a mere five minutes away by car in the direction of George Dolphins are frequent visitors and Whales can be seen from June to November.
From the mountain top above Kaaimans Pass and Dolphins Point paragliders ride the thermals, carrying more adventurous explorers back and forth across the highway and cliffs, finally to land on the beaches below Less than 2 minutes drive from Wilderness Village, the lagoon, Touw River, shops, restaurants and beaches.
Rapid access to Plettenberg Bay – George N2 See map below Being so centrally situated, Wilderness is an ideal place to base oneself in order to explore other places of interest on the garden route Oudtshoorn, where the famous Cango Caves and numerous Ostrich Farms are located, is a mere 60 km away in the hinterland, on the other side of the magnificent Outeniqua Mountain Range through which one drives en route.
The famous Outeniqua Tjoe-Choo steam locomotive makes daily trips between George and Knysna, taking sightseers across the lagoon estuary and along the magnificent Garden Route coast, travelling en-route through Kaaimans Pass and passing by Kaaimans Grotto with its stunning rock-enclaved restaurant The train can be boarded at either end, at the fascinating National Heritage Trust Railway and Transport Museum in George or the Waterfront Station in Knysna.
Approximately nine golf courses are situated within a 50 km radius of Wilderness and Wilderness itself offers a host of activities from exciting hiking trails, canoing, cycling, swimming, fishing, dolphin and whale watching, scenic drives and para-gliding.
Knysna, 50 km away, is home of the famous Knysna Oyster which is readily available at Knysnas Oyster factory as well as numerous restaurants along the Garden Route Knysna is also famous for its waterfront, yachts and lagoon cruises that provide exquisite views of the Knysna Heads – Knysnas gateway to the Indian Ocean. Traditional South African barbecues braais can be arranged at the pool deck, on request.
The lush vegetation that lines the Touw River teems with over 230 species of birdlife and whether you enjoy fishing, bird watching, canoing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, boating, water-skiing or simply idling away a hypnotic sunset at the swimming pool barbecue, you will find Mont Fleur an idyllic setting from which to explore the many attractions of the Garden Route and its hinterland.
