The four separate spacious, deluxe, air conditioned suites open directly onto a quiet large, private garden where we have over 250 rose bushes, and abundant birdlife. All our suites have three different types of coffees, several different types of teas, and fresh milk is always available in the refrigerator. Our internationally acclaimed shortbread is renewed daily, as is the port and the muscadel (muscadel is the sweet wine loved by early settlers). The mini bar is stocked with beer, soft drinks, water and fresh milk. All these items are there for your enjoyment at no charge if consumed on the premises. There is an extensive range of local Aloe Ferox toiletries in the bathrooms, to be enjoyed. Electric blankets are available at all times. The Cottage

We are one of the least expensive five-star establishments and winners of international awards for the last 10 years. We are situated in a beautiful quiet and secure area on a side street (large vehicles are prohibited from using this street) close to the historical centre of town and close to restaurants. You’ll be welcomed with a complimentary cup of tea or coffee or homemade lemonade and some of Jackie’s homemade cookies. we will explain the area to you if you wold like us to, or leave you to find your own way. (either Stephen or Jackie are always on the premises). We make restaurant bookings on your behalf and offer you complimentary lifts to and from the restaurant. You will be invited to join the hosts for complimentary wine tasting, and drinking, served with snacks (homemade nibbles and other local treats) before you go out to dinner.

There are decanters of port and muscadel in your room as well as a selection of cold drinks, beer and bottled water, all available at no charge if consumed on the premises. Tea and coffee facilities are in the room with a choice of 3 different types of coffee, 6 different types of tea, 2 different types of sugar, Hot Chocolate, and a bowl of Jackie’s famous shortbread biscuits. Free use of a heated indoor splash pool. Free WiFi internet access, anytime. Our breakfasts are considered one of the best in South Africa by many of our guests and we get frequent requests to serve breakfast to outside visitors, but I am afraid they are reserved for our residents only!

You’re offered a special tour around the Bontebok National Park with the previous owner Adin Greaves – who’s written a book on the Park – something that all our guests who have done this have really enjoyed. Magazines and books are always available in rooms, and an extensive natural history library is in the house. DSTV is available in each suite. Your car will be washed each morning during your stay. There are always fresh flowers in the rooms, and of course in the main house for some 8 months of the year, many picked from Jackie’s extensive rose-garden. There will be added value for each honeymoon couple. We will ensure that we spoil you in a special way, suited to your own individual tastes. If you stay with us for more than two nights we will gladly do any washing that you have free of charge.
Policy
We do not take a deposit, but reserve our rights to debit the card under our cancellation policy. We will always endeavour to re-let the accommodation, given sufficient notice. Less than 7 days forfeit 100% of first day’s accommodation From 7 to 14 days forfeit 75% of first day’s accommodation From 14 to 21 days forfeit 50% of first day’s accommodation From 21 to 28 days forfeit 25% of first day’s accommodation.
Children aged between 0 and 2 stay free.
Children aged between 3 and 12 pay 50% of the sharing rate.
